Azeez Alatoye is the Lead Legal Consultant of Ascension Legal Services. He is an opinion leader in Energy and Oil & Gas taxation with quality years of experiences with multinational firms including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte and Ernst & Young. Azeez has been involved in myriads of Tax Litigation cases to clients both in Nigerian Tribunals and Courts and in International Tribunals. He has lead various Corporate and Commercial transactions including Mergers & Acquisitions, Buy-outs, Corporate structuring and re-structuring and Advance Legal Opinions for International Centre for Settlement of Investment Dispute (ICSID) and International Chamber of Commerce.


He has been involved in series of legislative review as the current Dean of Extractive Industry Tax Faculty at the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He was a member of the Research & Technical Committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, a member of the Finance & General Purpose Committee and the Chairman of the Computer Sub-Committee of the Institute. He has participated widely in Oil & Gas Conferences in Nigeria, UK, USA, South Africa, Ghana among others. He has presented many papers both in Nigeria and abroad. His experience cuts across multinationals having interest across Asia, North America, South America, Middle East, Europe and Africa.


Azeez studied law at the University of Bradford (UK) were he got his LLB before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School for his BL. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and Member of the Institute of Management (MNIM). Azeez is an advocate of a friendly investment environment and amicable resolution of business and tax disputes.

Oluwasike holds a postgraduate degree in Commercial and Corporate Law from the University of London (LLM), a postgraduate diploma in Inter national Business Law and post graduate certificate in Tax Laws. She is a graduate of Law from University of llorin (LLB) and was called to the Nigerian Bar (BL).

She is also a fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. She has had a remarkable professional tax career spanning over 15 years with Deloitte and Ernst and Young (EY), providing expert tax services in the Financial services and Consumer Industry sectors. She joins Ascension after leaving EY as an Associate Director.

While at EY, She worked in the Global Compliance and Reporting unit of Tax services, where she supported clients (both local and multinational) on corporate tax compliance, advisory, tax audit & investigation, tax due diligence, tax planning and reporting. She also led the Growth (emerging) Market sector.

Oluwasike is a highly valued resource in the industry and will be adding refreshing ideas to our clients’ tax matters as she drives our Consumer Industry, Financial Services, and Telecommunications sector focus.

Dickson is a Managing Counsel at Ascension Legal Services. Prior to joining Ascension, Dickson had been with the Law Firms of Adepetun Caxton-Martins, Agbor & Segun (ACAS-Law) and Streamsowers & Kohn. He has vast experience in Corporate & Commercial Dispute Resolution. He has provided advisory services across various industries including the Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Renewable Energy etc. He is the Leader of the Firms Regulatory and Corporate & Commercial group.

He has worked series of transactions including business restructuring, winding-up and merger & acquisitions for Nigerian plus foreign companies across Asia, Europe and the United States. Dickson has been involved in cases at various Nigerian Courts and Tribunals. He has also provided support for cases at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Dispute (ICSID).

Dickson is a member an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). He obtained his LLB at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Nigeria). He holds a BL from Nigerian Law School. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Nurudeen Azeez is a Senior Counsel at Ascension Legal Practitioners, his practice focuses of civil litigation, litigation, advisory, commercial, and corporate practice.

A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and Nigerian Law School. Armed with a keen eye for detail and a tireless drive for quality, he ensures value creation on all tasks.

Nurudeen over the years have represented client’s interest in every cadre or court from Magistrate Court, High Court, Federal High, Tax Appeal Tribunal to Court of Appeal.

Nurudeen have advised companies both domestic and multinational on compliance with the Tax Legislation in Nigeria, Taxation of Cross Border Transactions, Transfer Pricing, Double Taxation between Nigeria and other sister countries, etc.

Prior to joining the firm, Nurudeen worked with Olu-Oluwole & Co, an active litigation law firm in Niger State, Nigeria where he represent clients interest in civil, criminal and corporate matters, Drafting and reviewing of commercial agreements.

He is a member of Nigerian Bar Association and licenced to practice in Nigeria.

Dare Sokoya is a Senior Counsel at Ascension Legal Practitioners.

Dare obtained his Law Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State Nigeria in 2010. He proceeded to the Nigerian Law School Bwari, Abuja between 2010/2011 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2012. Dare obtained a master’s degree in International Law from the University of Ibadan in 2015. He is currently a Doctoral student in Energy Law at The Center for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law at the John D. and Catherine T. Macarthur Foundation-funded Center of Excellence at the University of Ibadan.

Cynthia is a Senior Counsel at Ascension Legal Services. She graduated with from the Faculty of Law, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria where she obtained her LLB. He holds a BL from Nigerian Law School (NLS) and has been called to the Nigerian Bar.

Prior to joining Ascension, Cynthia had been with the Law Firm of Chief FRA Williams, Abuja, Delta State Ministry of Justice, and worked as Membership officer with the Nigerian Bar Association National Headquarters. Her practice currently covers Corporate & Commercial transactions, Taxation, Oil & Gas Business Support, Advisory, Regulatory compliance, and Dispute Resolution She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
